A look at the changes in the last nine months in our ongoing series on Ocean Park’s section of Lincoln Blvd.
PICO
PACIFIC
2208 Lincoln — Apparently at this location since at least 2009, Lincoln Barbers (established 1999) got a new paint job. There is also a Lincoln Barbers at 1511 Lincoln (next to Bay Cities.)
2221 Lincoln (Sunset Park) — The Great Care Medical Group building on the corner of Lincoln and Pearl is being renovated.
Their website shows this design rendering.
STRAND
2300 Lincoln — The property is for sale at $4.25MM. The building is divided into roughly 5,000 square feet (Printing Palace on a month-to-month lease) and 2,000 square feet (Jared’s Mattress on a short-term lease.)
2307 Lincoln (Sunset Park) — The 7-story, mixed-use project on the corner of Lincoln and Pearl is on hold. Fitness facility The Wrx has moved in. The Wrx joins Sweat 60 (2323 Lincoln) and CampLA (2660 Lincoln) as exercise facilities located in former Lincoln automotive repair shops.
2314 Lincoln — Home furniture store, Betty's Place, has moved back to the Kensington corner at 2316 Lincoln.
2316 Lincoln — In 2021, The Sofa Company factory showroom shrank from 2316 Lincoln into the next door 2314 Lincoln. In early 2022, DIY at-home eyelash extension company Lashify painted the iconic brick façade on the corner of Lincoln and Kensington black but never occupied the building. Home furniture store Betty's Place has returned from next door at 2314 Lincoln.
CEDAR
2432 Lincoln — To The Maxx Hair Salon is gone. The Reverie LA coffee shop is “coming soon” - keep in mind this is Santa Monica.
PINE
2537 Lincoln (Sunset Park) — The Empire Property Group housing project on the former car wash and automotive repair corner of Lincoln and Maple is on hold. A Rolling Greens garden center has opened on the site. The Los Angeles-based garden store’s fourth location - after Culver City, Beverly Grove, and Studio City. Founded by Laurie Resnick and Greg Salmeri, the centers are popular among interior designers, industry experts, and plant enthusiasts.
OCEAN PARK
The Lincoln and Ocean Park intersection has been restriped. One of the changes is that unusual east-bound Ocean Park Blvd after-Lincoln-right-turn-into-Gelsons-lane is gone. The east-bound Ocean Park Blvd right lane is now right turn onto Lincoln only.
2636 Lincoln — The MG Floor Covering / Abbey Carpet building sold. MG Floor Covering remains open as the building gets a fresh stucco front.
2640 Lincoln — Ocean Park Barbershop opened in the former interior design & custom furniture store faithfulROOTS space.
ASHLAND
2903 Lincoln (Sunset Park) — Cult fave San Francisco bakery Tartine (who mistakenly believe they are in Venice) has opened in the 4-story, mixed-use Wilson building. Free parking.
2947 Lincoln (Sunset Park) — Work continues in converting British-themed watering hole Cock N’ Bull
into the 4th branch (after Santa Monica, Venice, and West LA locations) of Mexican restaurant Tacos Por Favor.
PIER
3000 Lincoln — Pier 86 Barbershop opened the former Gillian Bissett Colour Salon location on the corner of Pier. That’s two new barbershops.
3014 Lincoln — For a long time, nothing seemed to be happening at Classic Auto Brokers, and now they are gone. Along with the small wood frame building they occupied. A demolition permit seems to have been an afterthought. Well, what did happen to the water and sewer connections anyway?
The nearly vacant lot (what is in that big orange shipping container?) is for lease at $4,600 / month (based on $1.50 / sq-ft / month). It is next to the Starbucks drive-thru.
NAVY
3280 Lincoln — Still no sign of that 2-story mixed-use building on the corner of Lincoln and Ozone was approved in 2020. Outdoor furniture and garden store ACME Life Style moved to Montana Ave.
And is replaced by family-owned and operated Certified Plant Growers whose plants are grown on their 20 acre facility in Norwalk. Three garden centers on Lincoln!
