The Santa Monica Commercial Company is formed in 1891 by the Vawter family.  The directors are E.J. Vawter, W.S. Vawter, W.D. Vawter, J.W. Summerfield, and J.R.Moore.

Vawter Sub Lucas Tract (1884)

The Santa Monica Commercial Co subdivides Blocks D, E, and F (??13 acres) of the 1884 Vawters Sub Lucas Tract into Blocks O, P, Q, and R of the 1892 Santa Monica Commercial Company Tract.¹

Santa Monica Commercial Company Tract (1892)

The Santa Monica Commercial Co. subdivides property into 25 ft x 100 ft lots and sells the lots for $100 each.

1. Main Street has its origins as Lucas Ave in 1887; and is renamed So. 2nd St in 1895, and then Main St in 1905. From 1886 to 1917, 2nd St is named Lake St, and then from 1917 to 1970 is named Washington Blvd. Broad St is renamed Hollister in 1917. Sand St is renamed Norman Place in 1936.
