Gone
2216 Main — Luxury real estate Sotheby’s International Realty office closed.
2430 Main — Blow Me Candle moved to 2804 Main.
2804 Main — House of Intuition (candles, crystals, mystics) closed both their Santa Monica and Melrose locations - citing water damage in the January rains.
2909 Main — Bulldog Realtors returned to their re-modelled Venice space.
3101 Main — Love for Pilates moved to 2714 Main St.
Main Street — With the official end of the Covid-19 emergency, new outdoor dining rules are in place. Leased (from the City) Al Fresco dining is limited to 2 parking spaces (4 in certain cases). Not all the restaurants that had outdoor dining are participating, and the excess concrete barricades (K-rails) are gone (and the parking meters restored).
Going
2403 Main — Women’s swimwear brand Boutine Los Angeles is closing its creative office. Some will miss the al fresco fashion shoots on Hollister.
3007 Main — After 37 years, unique women's clothing boutique Sumiko is closing. There is a sale until doors close around May 28th. Her clothing designs were a hit with the hip and hot from Hollywood, as well the Rock and Roll crowd. At almost 90, Sumiko has decided to close her iconic boutique which she opened in 1986.
Main Street — Three more diseased Ficus (Indian Laurel Fig) trees just north of Ocean Park Blvd are scheduled to be removed. Ficus trees all over Santa Monica are being killed by a sooty canker (a fungus) outbreak.
Opened
1921 Main — Brighton Academy opened in the long vacant Bonjour space. It is not clear what exactly it is - pre-school / tutoring / day care ? The children are having fun.
2000(A) Main — Solidcore, pilates-based fitness, opened its 100th studio in the long vacant space in the Avalon building. The brand's claim to fame? A notoriously difficult 50-minute Pilates workout, blasting EDM music, and signature Pilates machine - Sweatlana.
2400 Main — Narita fully vegan sushi, offering a variety of vegetable sushi rolls and salads, opened in a space next door to Thai Vegan.
2400 Main — JINYA ramen finally re-opened. JINYA first opened on Main St. in 2015 but has been closed following the major kitchen fire in January 2022.
2424 Main — The Crudo e Nudo people opened Isla - a wood-fired seafood restaurant in the former Little Prince space.
2714 Main — Love for Pilates moved from 3101 Main St. to this long time vacant space near Hill St.
2804 Main — Blow Me Candle moved from 2430 Main St - replacing House of Intuition.
Coming
2116 Main — Construction is underway for an unknown tenant in the former Green Dog Dental & Wellness space next to the dog park.
2400 Main — Puzzle & Co has us guessing as to what their store will sell.
2665(D) Main — Toolbox men’s nails will join the other nail salons on Main St. Toolbox was conceived to help men make nail care part of their regular routine by creating an elevated and welcoming space that emphasizes relaxed luxury and comfort and style.
NBC Channel 4 Features Main Street’s Toolbox Salon.
2905 Main — The 3rd location for Nancy Silverton’s Triple Beam Pizza - Roman-style pizza (plus beer & wine) that is replacing Sam’s Bagels. The name is a reference to the triple beam scales used to measure pizza sold by weight in Rome.
2909 Main — Pedal Mafia, home of cycling apparel, accessories and casual wear, is moving into the former Bulldog Realtors space.
3101 Main — Santa Monica beach-based fitness brand DMN8 replaces Greens Up. Founded in December 2019 by Aussie-born lifeguard Eddy Roche as an outdoor group fitness studio, it grew in less than 6 months (during Covid-19) to locations in Santa Monica, Pasadena, Thousand Oaks, Hermosa Beach and Culver City.
Main Street — State-of-the-art digital wayfinding kiosks with wifi, maps, business directory, city announcements, emergency services, and more. The City has not released details - but we encountered Big Outdoor surveyors on Main St.
Odd Stuff
2005 & 2009 Main — Circuit Works moved to 1837 Lincoln. The front of the landmarked building is boarded up - another target for Main Street bill posters.
2522 Main — The latest (about a dozen over the last year) one-off, hand painted advertisement is on display at Surf Liquor. Advertising signs are not permitted in Santa Monica - so it stays up until Code Enforcement tells them to cover it up.
2708 Main — Comfortable clothing company Feat closed their flagship store but continue occupying the space.
2801 Main — Recently opened SkinLab re-opened after being closed for a week to re-model their interior.
2901 Main — Starbucks survived another dumpster fire.
3002 Main — Perhaps someone at the City didn’t like the colorful window treatments at ZAG.
3007 Main — Is Via Veneto (3009 Main) going to expand into the Sumiko (3007 Main) space ? There is an ABC notice up for a new Type 47 alcohol license for 3007 - 3009 Main.
174 Kinney — The “For Lease” sign came down at the former Enterprise Fish Co. Work started for an unnamed restaurant (rumored to be a Mexican eatery by the Gjelina) but work stopped. The “For Lease” sign went back up. The “For Lease” sign has come back down again.

Along both sides of the 1 mile stretch of Main Street Pico to the south City border past Marine, there are only 8 retail spaces left for lease.
