The Santa Fe Tract is an 1887 re-subdivision by R. R. Tanner and T. A. Lewis of part of the Vawters Sub Lucas Tract
The Vawters sell 53 acres of the Vawters Sub Lucas Tract to R. R. Tanner1 and T A. Lewis.2 Tanner, Lewis & Co subdivide into Blocks A to N of the Santa Fe Tract.
Tanner, Lewis & Co put down a well, put in sidewalks and advertise an auction sale to take place August 1887.
The highest price paid for one of these lots is $725.00. Houses are built on the tract by Lewis, Tanner, W. S. Vawter and others.
In 1904, the Vawters re-subdivide Blocks H, L, & part of K of Santa Fe Tract into Vawters Orchard Tract.
In 1906, the Vawters re-subdivide Blocks N & J of Santa Fe Tract into Vawters Marine St Tract.
Streets established with the Santa Fe Tract:-
Ash St - becomes Ashland Ave
Cherry St - becomes Pier Ave.
Ballona Ave - becomes Marine St.
