In 1922, George Davidson Hughes (1865–1933)1 sells his 2924 Main St. property and moves his business to 2651 Main Street. Hughes Sheet Metal Works occupied the wood frame building for many years (circa 1920 to circa 1960). In the early 20th century, Main St had a number of sheet metal, iron works, and machine shops.

George Davidson Hughes (1865–1933). Born in Philadelphia, PA. In 1895, he marries Lucy Peasgood (1866 – 1952) in Philadelphia. In 1910. he is a plumber for gas company. Between 1910 and 1913 Hughes moves to Ocean Park (144 Grand). Hughes occupies the 2nd Floor apartment of 2942 Main St. From 1922, Hughes lives at 2016 3rd St (demolished 1972).
