We had to go to Santa Monica to look into the origins of the Victorian on Main St, but we are back. Here is some of what has been happening on Pico while we were away.
234 Pico Blvd @ 3rd. Cypress Equity Investments 5-story mixed use residential project, with 186 units and subterranean parking on the former Bowlmor site, was at the Architectural Review Board (ARB) this Monday August 15. Thiswas the final public meeting for this project. The scope of the ARB review was limited to the design, colors, materials and landscape plans. The ARB approved an earlier 3-story version of the project in 2019.
302 Pico @ 3rd. After years of construction, yoga chain Sweat Theory never opened. Their incomplete buildout has been removed, and the building is for lease again.
312 Pico Blvd @ 3rd. Santa Monica lawyer Rosario Perry (1947 - 2022) died. A former assistant City Attorney, Perry became a champion of Santa Monica property owners after Rent Control was ushered in by local voters in 1979. His office, hidden behind El Texate, closed and the building is now for lease.
316 Pico @ 3rd. Family owned, El Texate serving authentic Oaxacan food for more than 30 years disappeared.
530 Pico @ 6th. The global film industry converges on Ocean Park this week (Oct 31 - Nov 5) with the American Film Market (AFM) headquartered at Le Meridien Delfina. With closure of Loews IFTA has struck a multi-year arrangement with Le Meridien Delfina.
