Between 1922 and 1937, Jacob Lee Schimmer and his son J.L. Schimmer, Jr build many buildings in Ocean Park/Santa Monica - Dome Theatre, Ocean Park Pier, Santa Monica Pioneer Market, Charles Block, French Block, and two large reservoirs. Usually Schimmer is architect and builder. When Main St is widened in 1926, Schimmer moves many brick buildings.

Jacob Lee Schimmer (1884 – 1933).
Born in PA, in 1904, Schimmer marries Georgietta M. Tompkins Ross (1882–1947) and they have children Jacob Lee "Bud" Schimmer (1905–1972) and Lillian May Schimmer (1908 – 1982). Schimmer, listed as a machinist, moves to Los Angeles in 1908, and Santa Monica in 1912. In 1918 Schimmer is listed as a carpenter. He lives at 2017 21st St. in a house that is moved there by Schimmer.
Jacob Lee “Bud” Schimmer, Jr. (1905 – 1972)
Born in PA, Schimmer moves to Los Angeles with his parents in 1908, and attends Santa Monica High School. In 1926, he marries Gladys Emma Eagler (1904–1964), then marries Alta Maud Dixon (1905–1983). Schimmer works with his father from 1926 to 1933. He lives at 2031 21st St. Between 1938 and 1939, he builds several buildings for North American Aviation. Schimmer is chairman of the Santa Monica Planning Commission. He is elected to the Santa Monica City Council from 1947 to 1949. He is chairman of the Santa Monica Redevelopment Agency.
