Ocean Park health & fitness boom continues with Aviator Nation Ride, a fitness studio with spin, boxing, nutrition coaching, and a juice / coffee bar coming to the landmarked Parkhurst building on Main St. Aviator Nation (AN), the 1970’s inspired California lifestyle brand, started in Venice in 2006, and has grown to 15 global retail locations. The Aviator Nation flagship store remains where it all began on Abbot Kinney Blvd. The company’s name derives from founder Paige Mycoskie's love of aviator-style sunglasses.
AN Ride replaces Planet Blue, the Los Angeles-based chain of beach-boho style women’s wear boutiques, that closed all of its retail locations (including Main St & Montana Ave) in 2020. Planet Blue occupied the entire ground floor from 2005 to 2020. Armani Exchange occupied the space before that from 1992 to 2004.
Like most of Main St, the lot is Santa Monica zoned Neighborhood Commercial (NC). The change of use from Retail Sales may require a use permit. Being a City Landmark the business is not required to provide off street parking.
