Main Street (Pico to Marine+)
We thought we were done - but changes on Main St keep coming fast. Go down there and see for yourself. Here is some of what has happened since our very recent update.
150 Pico — The tight lipped little birdie on the corner of Pico and Main had the exterior of their building painted black.
1920 Main — The tight lipped World Surf League on the corner of Main and Bay had the exterior of their building re-painted white.
2307 Main — Ramen place Ensoku had promised to come back - but now there is a For Lease sign in their window. Sadly another for the loss column.
2400 Main — Culver City based handbag store SUSU is opening soon.
2403 Main — Cheeky Los Angeles based swimwear and lifestyle brand Boutine Los Angeles opened a creative office. Boutine retails online swimsuits for women to a global customer base - although some online customer reviews aren’t great.
2437 Main — Our change-of-season beacon, the Shopping Cart Christmas Tree, is up at Edgemar. Main St artist Anthony Schmitt has been creating the installation every year since 1995.
2443 Main — Gift store Wishbone opened at Edgemar
2665 Main — Sports memorabilia store Beach City Collectibles opened.
2714 Main — The Cashmere Sale pops-up from November 5 to December 4. The 20 year old New York City based company, with 30 locations nationwide, pops-up once a year for a limited time to bring high quality cashmere at irresistible prices.
2721 Main — Interior construction continues at former electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) fitness place Manduu.
2905 Main — Sam’s Bagels is closing November 22 and moving to Montana Ave. Will this finally make way for the rumored Starbucks take over of both 2901 Main & 2905 Main ?
3001 Main — Sameday Health opened in the former One Life Natural Foods space. Venice beach based Sameday Health, the parent company of Sameday Testing which is one of the largest COVID-19 testing providers in the country, is a September 2020 health clinic startup providing access to immediate and reliable care.
3101 Main — Interior construction continues at former Rudy's barbershop for Love for Pilates Love 4 Pilates offers affordable group reformer classes focusing on total body conditioning through a method utilizing Pilates and performance enhancement tactics. Love 4 Pilates has another location in West Hollywood.
Congratulations to all those merchants who tenaciously hung on. If you dream of opening your own store on Main Street - you had better hurry up - probably the best day to lease was Jan 26, 2021. There are more “now hiring” signs than “for lease” signs. Along both sides of the 1 mile stretch of Main Street from Pico to the south City border past Marine, there are only 10 retail spaces left for lease. The 7 spaces listed as “vacant” don’t have a leasing sign and some may be available.
