Arco is the last remaining gas station in Ocean Park. In 1987, a leak in an underground storage tank (UST) was discovered - stopped in 1988 and the case closed in 1996.  In 1997 an overfilled UST spilled approximately 60 gallons of gasoline.

In 2005 a portion of a UST was damaged in a construction accident and approximately 5,500 gallons of gasoline was leaked into the subsurface.  Since then the property has been under California mandated quarterly groundwater monitoring with 8 ground water monitoring wells (including one on 4th St, one on 3rd St and 2 across Pico in Historic Belmont Park).
